The 6th annual Trunk or Treat Main Street Martinez & Cooperative Center FCU invite you to join us at a SAFE, FUN, and FREE Halloween Spooktacular! Sunday, Oct. 25 from 10am to 2pm in Downtown Martinez We're teaming up with local businesses to provide a safe place for you to enjoy Halloween festivities. Instead of walking house to house, visit creatively themed and decorated car trunks and shops lining downtown Martinez to collect candy and treats. The Trunk or Treat and Store to Store event will happen on a Sunday in conjunction with the Farmers Market. The Market will be on the 600 and 700 blocks of Main St. and the 500, 800, and 900 blocks will be filled with Trunk or Treat cars. And, many stores throughout the downtown will be open and handing out treats. Treat bags and maps will be handed out to Trunk or Treaters in the Main Street Plaza, adjacent to Starbucks on Main St. Stahlberg Photography will be taking photos of your child in costume. If you would like to have a photo taken of you child in costume go to the Studio of Stahlberg Photography at 620 Main Street between the hours of 10am-2pm Face painting in the plaza will be provided by the City of Martinez Parks & Recreation Department. The Martinez Downtown Retailers Focus Group will again be spearheading “Downtown Martinez Has a Heart” by local merchants donating 10% of their sales to the Martinez Early Childhood Center (MECC) during Saturday, February 14th in conjunction with the Valentine’s Day celebration. This is the seventh year the Downtown Retailers Focus Group has partnered with the MECC in this fundraising effort. The Martinez Early Childhood Center has been offering quality child care and development since 1974 and serves low-income families with quality, full time child care and development. Parents must be working or in vocational training and are subject to fees according to their income and number of family members. The Center is concerned with meeting the needs of each individual child and their program offers enriched developmentally appropriate curriculum to prepare children for Kindergarten. The program is accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children. Downtown participating businesses are: White Rabbit Boutique, 529 Main Street (Clothing, Gifts, Jewelry, AA & NA Items, Incense, Etc.) Char's Flower Shoppe, 635 Main Street (Flowers, Plants, Handicrafts, & Gifts) Leah's Closet, 831 Main Street (Consigned Clothing & Accessories) Lemongrass Bistro, 501 Main Street (Asian Fusion Cuisine) For information call (925) 229-1900 Your patronage at the above businesses during this event on February 14th can help make up some of the monies that the Martinez Early Childhood Center lost from the State of California by virtue of funding cuts for this very vital program.

Candice Gliatto, chair of the ER committee and downtown business owner said, “Businesses are encouraged to take advantage of the reasonable rents in this up and coming downtown district. The rents are perfect for everyone from the home-based business that is looking for a larger space to an established businesses ready grow to a larger space or to open a second location,” said Candice. The Bay Area Craft Beer Festival in downtown Martinez began in 2010 to highlight the art and flavor of craft beer in Martinez and surrounding communities. Produced by Main Street Martinez, the festival draws 3,000 people to enjoy beer from over 40 microbreweries, live music, and food from local restaurants. This year, the event will be held at Waterfront Park on North Court St., a short walking distance from the Martinez Amtrak Station and free downtown parking.
